  1. Where are you located?
    The Bluffton-Wells County Animal Shelter is located at 702 North Main Streetbetween the Clark station and Dr. Nodine's Dental Office. You can follow this link to view a map of the area around the shelter.
  2. What happens if my pet is brought to the animal shelter?
    You have 5 working days to reclaim your pet. If it isn't reclaimed in 5 days it becomes property of the City and we can adopt it or euthanize it.
  3. What does it cost to get my pet out of the shelter?
    It is $22.00 or the 1st day and $2.00 for evry day we keep it.
  4. What if the owner does not reclaim the animal?
    Then we adopt it or euthanize it depending on the animal. Yes, some we take home.
  5. Am I required to have my pet spayed/neutered?
    No, unless you adopt it from here then yes.
  6. What can I do about my neighbor's barking dog?
    Call us and make a complaint and we will send a warning that they are in violation of the City ordinance. This is only if in the City of Bluffton. There is no barking ordinance in the county.
  7. What can I do about the feral cats in my neighborhood?
    Come in and get a live trap. ...What is feral? A feline that has never had humane touch.

  9. Do you put animals to sleep?
    Yes, we are not a "no kill" shelter.
  10. Does Wells County have a SPCA?
    No.
